Twenty/20 cricket is revitalising cricket and this event is already sparking off real enthusiasm, the chance for a  platform for these clubs all over Atlanta to parade their skills.Twenty20 cricket has caught the imagination of a new generation of cricket fans the world over. A high-profile Twenty20 club tournament should be great fun for the players  and spectators.    Twenty 20 cricket rules and laws: The basic rules and laws of Twenty 20 cricket are fundamentally the same as a one inning one day international cricket match. As the name 'Twenty 20' implies, the rules of Twenty 20 cricket matches state that each team in a Twenty 20 cricket match will have a maximum of 20 overs, unlike  40 or 50 overs as in an one day club or international cricket matches.

Rule 1: The Free Hit

An interesting rule of Twenty 20 cricket is the Free Hit. This Twenty 20 cricket rule states that following a no-ball as a result of overstepping [Footfault no-ball], the next ball shall be a Free Hit. For this ball, the batsman is not given  out by any way in the cricket rules apart from being run-out
Rule 2: Power to the umpires

A controversial rule of Twenty 20 cricket states that umpires may award five runs to one of the teams playing the Twenty 20 cricket match, in case the umpires feel that the other team is delibrately and needlessly wasting time.Umpires are instructed to apply a strict interpretation of time-wasting by the batsman (five-run penalties). Specifically, batsmen are expected to be ready for the start of a new over as soon as the bowler is ready.
For GSCL League this will only apply if the umpire gives two previous warnings.

  Rule 3:Timed Out
The incoming batsman must be in position to take guard or for his partner to be ready to receive the next ball  within one minute 30 seconds of the fall of the previous wicket.
Rule 4: Twenty overs within 90  minutes

This Twenty 20 cricket rule imposes strict penalties on bowling teams not completing their alloted 20 overs within 90 minutes. As per this rule of Twenty 20 cricket, a bonus of 5 runs is awarded to the batting team in case the bowling team does not begin their 20th over before 90 minutes. This rule of Twenty /20 cricket is intended to be strictly imposed since completing the Twenty 20 cricket match within 3 1/2 hours is one of the primary benefits and selling points of Twenty 20 cricket, shorter and more exciting. In reduced over matches, the fielding side has one over lee-way in addition to any time that the Umpires may allow for stoppages.

Rule 4: Bowling restrictions of Twenty 20 cricket

This  specific Twenty 20 rule states that bowlers can bowl a maximum of 4 overs. In a delayed or interrupted match, no bowler may bowl more than one fifth of the total overs allowed unless such a number has been exceeded before the interruption.

Rule 5: Fielding restrictions of Twenty 20 cricket

Twenty 20 cricket rules state that only 5 fielders can field on the leg side at any point of time.  Rule 6: TIE GAMESThis special GSCL Twenty /20 cricket rule applies to Twenty/ 20 matches that end in a tie. Each team will select 1 bowler and 1 batsman for the BOWL OFF.Each batsman will face 1 over from the selected bowler and the batsmanscoring the most runs in that 1 over ,there team will be declared the winner.
