GSCL AWARDS
Tropical Sports Club captured all the major Trophies, 1. Caribbean
Sales & Marketing Twenty/20 Trophy;
2. Qualitex 45 Overs K.O. Cup 3. MME 40 over League Trophy. In the bating department Richard Hoilette of Tropical was the big winner, capturing
the Best Average with 88.33.
Hoilette also took home the best aggregate trophy
with 530 runs from only 7 innings;
He had the highest individual score of 174 Not Out
against Vibes Sports Club and scored two centuries and picked up the MVP award. Top bowler was Antonio Duare of UBACCC who captured 20
wickets.
Topping the average was Michael Sutton of Tropical Sports Club with an 8.00 average. The awards presentation
saw special recognition of the president’s award going to Glenn Atkins of UBACCC, for outstanding contributions to the
league.
Adsyl Hutson of Vibes Sports Club won player of the year for his outstanding performances
in all three tournaments played this year (2007).

SUTTON CENTURY GIVES TROPICAL 3RD CRICKET TITLE

On Sunday, September 30th, 2007, at McNairPark in College ParkGeorgia,
Tropical Sports Club made it three for three in league finals by defeating Vibes Sports Club by 66 runs. The day was beautiful
beyond belief, the park was filled with supporters and fans, and the proceedings were accompanied by live music and cricket
commentary. Tropical won the toss and
batted first. They accumulated 313 runs for five wickets in their allotment of 40 overs. Mike Sutton topscored with an unbeaten
118, and was justly rewarded with the “Man of the Match” trophy. Additional scores of note were Captain Patrick
Harris’ 36 not out, Basil Williams’ 34, Al Givance’s 33, David Hoilette’s 25 and opener Jermaine Lindo’s
24. Extras added 43 runs and Vibes helped Tropical with at least six dropped catches. Four
of Vibes’ bowlers took one wicket each, with A Hutson being the most economical by allowing 37 runs in his allotted
eight overs.
During the intermission 10 batsmen competed in a League sponsored Swipefest.
Each batsman faced six balls with the goal to amass most runs in one over. Basil Williams was the winner with 26 runs.
Set a target of 7.83 runs
per over, Vibes’ reply to the Tropical total was 247 for six in 40 overs. A Hooper led their scoring with an exciting
70 runs. He was supported by A Hutson who added 67 and B. Roberts with 56 not out. Extras added 24 runs.
Tropical’s bowling was
steady and their fielding quite tidy in defending their 313 runs. Captain Harris made very good use of his bowlers in defending
his team’s total. Opening bowler Cameron Davis
got three wickets for 44 runs in six overs. His partner Ryan Wong gave up a measly 29 runs in six overs. Basil Williams bowled
three overs for 19 runs, Lyndon Johnson gave up 39 runs in eight overs, and Al Givance bowled three overs for 20 runs.
Other wicket takers were Mike
Sutton who took one wicket for 41 runs in six overs and John Slocombe who also got one wicket for 47 runs in eight overs.
Following the game, trophy
presentation were made to Tropical as champions, Vibes as runnersup, and Mike Sutton as Man of the Match.
Congratulations were given to the
Umpires who officiated throughout the year, and special thanks were made to Junior Williams, Tropical’s Manager and
Patrick Harris, Tropical’s Captain, who were responsible for the billiard table conditions of the outfield. It was observed
throughout the day that the atmosphere on this Sunday was one which was envisioned for the one year old Georgia Supreme Cricket
League.
TROPICAL - 2007
- 20/20 CHAMPIONS.
 On Sunday, September 23rd, 2007,
at BurdettePark in College Park, Georgia, Tropical Sports
Club, and United Barbados Association Cricket Club(UBACC) faced off in the Georgia Supreme Cricket League 20/20 finals. Tropical
was victorious by 89 runs after posting a score of 170 runs in 19.2 overs, to which UBACC replied with 81 runs in 17.2 overs.
Tropical won the toss and
batted first. They played solid 20/20 cricket and amassed a score of 146 for six in 16 overs before losing their last four
wickets for an additional 24 runs. Scores of 36 each by David Hoilette and Al Givance showed the way while Jermaine Lindo
contributed 26. Extras added 22 runs to the Tropical total.
The UBACC bowling attack was
led by Melvin Griffin with three wickets for 24 runs in four overs. M. Pinnock got two wickets for 29 in three overs, and
A. Duare got two wickets for 35 runs also in three overs.
UBACC’s batting never
got untracked. Wicketkeeper K. Knight topscored with 20 while captain C. Lawrence and R. Tulloch got 13 and 12 runs respectively.
Extras added 18 runs.
Tropical used four bowlers to complete
the job led by Basil Williams’ figures of 3.2 overs, four wickets for 16 runs. Ryan Wong got three for 24 in four overs,
which included a chance to get a hattrick with the third ball of his third over.
Cameron Davis got two for 33 in his four overs, while Lyndon Johnson was very economical with figures of four overs, one maiden,
one wicket for seven runs.
Tropical defeated Vibes S.C to capture GSCL 45 overs K.O.competition.

Under sunny skies and temperatures around 72 degrees F, teams from the Tropical Sports Club
and the Vibes Cricket Club squared off for the league 45 over final at McNair Park, College Point Georgia on Sunday September
16, 2007. Tropical was victorious by 129 runs, after scoring 283 runs in 45 overs, while Vibes were all out for 154 runs
in 31.2 overs.Tropical won the toss and batted first. They started slowly, amassing only 35 runs in their first 10 overs.
Opener Jermaine Lindo, who was returning to action after a five week injury period, top scored with 63, and more significantly
stayed at the crease until the Tropical score was 151 through 26 overs. Al Givance also top scored with 63 not out, and saw
the team through their 45 over allotment. Another score of note was Richard Hoilette who signaled his return to form with
46. Extras added 48 runs, with 40 wides, six leg byes and two no balls. The Vibes bowling attack was led by A. Hutson who
had figures of nine overs, two maidens, two wickets for 24 runs. Supporting him were D. Bills with two wickets for 46 runs,
and B. Roberts with two wickets for 49 runs, both having bowled nine overs. Vibes started quickly and had amassed 89 runs
in the 16th over when the 60 run partnership between opener S. James who top scored with 43 runs, and A. Hutson
who finished with 26 runs, was broken. That proved to be a turning point as the remainder of the team added only 65 runs.
Extras comprised 35 with 27 wides, six leg byes and two no balls. Bowling for Tropical, J. Slocombe took three wickets for
24 runs in seven overs, L. Johnson took three wickets for 33 runs in nine overs, B. Williams took two wickets for 27 runs
in five overs.

GSCL Club Members, Friends, Family and Supporters of the Fundraiser for Avnel “Bubbles” Wideman
The “Committee” for the above fundraising event, would like to take this opportunity
to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for your overwhelming support.
The fundraiser was held on December 1st, for Vibes Sports Club member, Avnel “Bubbles”
Wideman who is seriously ill. We solicited donations from all the cricket clubs
within the Georgia Supreme Cricket League; as well as various local businesses and individuals. This event was well supported by everyone, folks gave from their hearts, pockets as well as their
time. We are happy to inform you that the event raised $3,658.75 in Georgia. The
Florida Cricket Community held a 20/20 competition towards this event and raised another $1,000+.
We continue to keep Bubbles in our thoughts and prayers and wish her well throughout this trying
time and we ask you to do the same.
